Our Team

Our company is composed of a core team, as well as outsourced team members, which are incorporated as they are needed in the different projects.

The core team is a solid cell that provides the base working unit for our services to be provided efficiently and harmoniously. The core team is able to expand its working bandwidth by adding and managing other service units as needed, each service unit will be composed by the human resource with the required skill for the project.

Andres Calvo, President & Creative Director
Web developer and graphic designer since 1999, founder of the Space Lab, musician (Sensor Trifulcador and 11:11), painter, video artist and entrepreneur. Andrés has extensive first hand experience in managing complex web projects and work teams. One of his recent creations and social networks experiment, is the creation of the YouTube character "el Moradito," which became a cultural phenomenon in Costa Rica. El Moradito has evolved to form part of television programs, educational campaigns and advertising (Canal 7, Dos Pinos, Grupo Monge). Andrés has a degree in Advertising Design from Veritas University and is an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Alvaro Jimenez, General & Branding Manager
Alvaro returned to Costa Rica in 2007 and was immediately incorporated in the Space Lab project. After ten years in the United States, Alvaro brought back his experiences in different companies: from start-ups (EB-Direct in San Francisco) to Fortune 500 companies (Nike in Beaverton WHQ). Alvaro is a results-oriented bicultural (English/Spanish) MBA Industrial Engineer; focused on business improvement, customer attainment and retention, and a specialist in branding across traditional and digital channels.

Marianela Calvo, Design Director & Web Developer
Marianela was the second person to join the Space Lab in september 2005. Graphic designer by trade, with a degree from Veritas University, she has extensive experience in advertising (Tribu DDB). A creative spirit, Nela is a specialist in brand identity design (logos, corporate image design, packaging), web design, as well as design for print. She is also the founder and designer of "Wear Bona Fide." She enjoys being surrounded by nature, time with family, the beach, music, and pilates.

Dagoberto Meza, Web Developer
Dagoberto joined the Space Lab in 2009. He first came aboard as a motivated kid who wanted to learn about web technologies. It did not take him very long to become a specialist in web design, Joomla and open source technologies. His motivation and hunger to learn has led him to achieve expert knowledge of web technologies and design.

Dago is the current lead web developer and surprises us every day with new ideas and motivations.
